prefabricated fives courts
Prefabricated fives courts could offer an affordable alternative to courts built in the traditional way (with bricks and render).
Advantages could include:
- The walls, floors and buttresses are prefabricated so quality control is high and errors of dimension, surface or colour (which have dogged previous fives-court construction projects) would be minimised.
- The courts can also be erected in a much shorter time than the four or five months that recent fives court construction projects have taken (using conventional building techniques).
- And the courts are much lighter - so foundations are not so enormous and siting is more flexible.
The three advantages above have cost implications: quick and light construction means lower costs.
The manufacturer would produce the walls, buttresses and flooring to go inside whatever building the customer needs - whether this is a sports hall with other facilities, an indoor fives-court complex or a traditional outdoor building. They could also be inserted into an existing structure - so perhaps a sports hall, old squash courts or a barn - very cost effectively.
