Block-and-render courts
Most courts are still being built the traditional way, using cinder blocks and render, inside a steel frame.
The new courts at Holyport College in Berkshire (sponsored by Eton College) use this technology. I am supervising the construction of three courts at this school, a mixed free school with both boarders and day students.
I designed and supervised the building of Cambridge University's three Eton fives courts at its new sports hall. They are made in the traditional way, with bricks and render, although they are built on the first floor of the building, which is probably a world first.
